Let us entertain you with a packed program of thrills, spills, colour, music and movement.
SHOWTIME FMX
When: Noon and 8pm daily
Where: Coca-Cola Arena
Map ref: K3
IS THIS guy on a motorbike (right) crazy? It’s nothing for him to jump more than 12m in the air across ramps more than 24m apart. He and the Showtime FMX stunt team will twist,
turn and thrill the Coca-Cola Arena crowd, pushing their Yamaha bikes and their bodies to the limit with extreme, mid-air, freestyle stunts. Showtime FMX was first performed at the Royal Canberra Show in 2000, with three mounds of dirt and lots of courage. They are now one of the most
spectacular stunt acts in Australia. Expect to see tricks including jackhammers, rock solids and heart attacks, all set to a rock ’n’ roll sound track. It’s exciting stuff.
SHREK THE THIRD LIVE SHOW
When: 12.45pm and 2.45pm daily
Where: Herald Sun Town Square
Map ref: G4
SHREK and Princess Fiona are preparing for the Royal Ball to celebrate their marriage. It’s onkey
and Puss In Boots to the rescue. They team up to give their favourite ogre a dance lesson or two in preparation for his royal appearance. But Shrek’s not too sure about dance lessons. Once an
ogre, always an ogre, and Shrek chooses the comfort of his swamp over the dance floor. Thankfully, it doesn’t take long before he comes to his senses and realises he won’t even be
happy in the swamp without his true love, Princess Fiona. Ah! Happily, it’s happy ever after.
OPEN-AIR CIRCUS
When: 11.30am, 1pm, 3.30pm and 5pm daily
Where: Herald Sun Town Square
Map ref: G4
CIRCUS SKILLS WORKSHOPS
When: 10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm daily Where: Herald Sun Town Square
Map ref: G4
LOOK-up in the sky. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it time for the Open-Air Circus? It’s probably a trapeze artist high up there, defying gravity and displaying nerves of steel.
The Herald Sun Town Square is the place to be for this amazing circus performance four times a day. You’ll also see silk artists, aerial hoop, cloud swing and hula hoop performers, jugglers and clowns working their magic as you relax in the fresh air on the lawn. The performers are from all around the world:
Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Argentina, Italy and Australia. There are also children’s circus-skills workshops several times a day in the Herald Sun Town Square. So after being astounded by the performance you can join a workshop to learn from the experts themselves.
Juggling, diablo and hula hoop are just a few of the circus skills taught in these interactive workshops. Three circus rings will accommodate 30 children each. Each session lasts
45 minutes, with 15 minutes in each of three rings. Seating for the circus and places in
the circus workshops cannot be reserved, so arrive early.
School groups can make bookings for seats and workshop places. Call the education co-ordinator on 9281 7444.
