At midnight last night the detectives were almost certain that they had struck the trail of the murderer of Howard, the man found dead on Wednesday at Yonkers. If so, his arrest is possible at any time they choose to make it, but they deem it best to "shadow " him until they secure enough evidence for his conviction. [ END OF FIRST PARAGRAPH ]
